US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook cut his speech short at an event in Los Angeles on Tuesday, after Iran reportedly launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles at Iraqi bases housing US troops. Footage shows Hook being handed a note by one of the event organisers, after which he reportedly took only one more question before leaving the room. During his speech, Hook said that US President Donald Trump «made the right decision» to order an airstrike that killed Iranian Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani, because he said «it was very clear that the man who was responsible for the deaths of over 600 Americans was plotting to kill more Americans.» Soleimani and deputy leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) Mohammed Ali Ebrahimi, also known as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were killed by a US drone strike near Baghdad's airport last week, triggering an escalation of tensions in the region.
