USA: Trump puts Mike Pence in charge of coronavirus response

US President Donald Trump put Vice President Mike Pence in charge of the country's response to coronavirus (COVID-19). The announcement was made during a press conference in Washington DC, on Wednesday. «Mike will be working with the professionals and doctors and everybody else that's working,» said Trump, before adding that Pence has «a certain talent for this.» Pence said that his role will be «to bring to the president the best options for action to see to the safety and well-being and health of the American people.» «In recent days, the White House met with over 40 state, county and city health officials from over 30 states and territories to discuss how to respond to this to the potential threat of the coronavirus. We'll be working with them in renewed ways to make sure they have the resources to be able to respond,» he continued. On Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that they are investigating what could be the first case of coronavirus in the US, involving a Californian patient who is now reportedly receiving medical care. President Trump also touched on the shooting that took place in Milwaukee on Wednesday, where five people lost their lives, and presented his «deepest condolences to the victims and families.»
