US President Donald Trump praised the contribution of the African-American community as he hosted an African-American History Month reception at the White House in Washington DC on Thursday. «From the very beginning of our republic, African-American heroes poured out their blood, sweat, heart and soul to protect American freedom and to realize our founding promise that we are all made equal by the hand of Almighty God,» said Trump. «Hundreds of thousands of courageous African-Americans defend our flag today. We are proudly and profoundly grateful to be joined by several members of the United States military this evening. We salute your tireless devotion and all of the great work you do for our nation. We want to thank you very much, it's incredible the job you do. Thank you all very much, military people,» he added. In February, America's leading cultural institutions paid tributes to the generations of African Americans 'who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.'
