US Vice President Mike Pence said coronavirus treatments could already be available by the summer, during a press conference in the White House in Washington DC on Monday. «There may well be a vaccine going to clinical trial within the next six weeks,» Pence said during a briefing on the administration's efforts to curb the coronavirus outbreak. «The nature of trials as the experts have explained to us is that the vaccine might yet not be available until late this year or early next, but the therapeutics giving relief to people that contract the coronavirus could literally be available by this summer or early fall.» Pence confirmed four more people died from the coronavirus in the US, bringing the death toll in the country to six, and that the number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 91 — 43 domestic, and 48 returnees from overseas. According to the latest reports by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), at least 89,000 people have been infected by the COVID-19 so far and over 3,000 people have died.
