Foreign Minister of United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, commented on the US-backed peace accord signed between the UAE and Israel during his speech at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. Al Nahyan emphasised UEA's «firm» demands for the formation of a Palestinian state and credited his country for stopping the planned annexation of occupied territories by Israel. The foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates said that the accord «opened broad prospects to achieve a comprehensive peace in the region» while ensuring that people will not be engulfed in poverty and wars anymore. «We will work to ensure that the peace accord will open new intellectual horizons in the region and create a prosperous path for future generations who deserve a stable region and a better reality than wars and poverty,» he stressed. In his statement to the General Assembly's General Debate, Al-Nahyan emphasised that the UAE had constantly worked hard using all accessible diplomatic courses to reiterate its total opposition to the annexation of the Palestinian regions.
