Sudan: PM Hamdok survives assassination attempt in Khartoum

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok survived an assassination attempt in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum on Monday. Reports suggest that an explosive device was targeted at the Prime Minister's motorcade, fortunately, nobody was harmed during the explosion. Eyewitness reports suggest that the assassination attempt consisted of a car that was parked on the side of the road that was then remotely detonated as the motorcade passed. Hamdok took to Twitter to assure the Sudanese people that he was «safe and in good shape,» after the attack. Footage of from near the bombing site shows high security after the incident, while scores of locals gathered to learn the details of the assassination attempt on their leader. Hamdok has been prime minister since August 2019, after he was appointed by Sudan's Sovereignty Council following the nationwide protests which led the army to oust former President Omar al-Bashir.
