A plastic bag recycling company in Ecatepec, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Mexico City, is manufacturing bags for corpses amid the coronavirus pandemic as footage from Friday shows. The workers can be seen sorting through plastics at the recycling plant and demonstrating the characteristics of the body bags which have to meet certain standards to prevent any leakage or spills to contain the virus. «They are completely airtight because we do not have liquid spills. Since they are sealed at both ends, there are no spills. Besides, it has an airtight zipper and this way it can contain a body,» said plastic bag recycler Sergio Alvarez Calderon. He added that the plant had already received an order for approximately 10 million bags under urgent requests by government offices suppliers. Mexico has recorded 6,875 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 546 deaths related to the virus as of Saturday, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
