Mexico: Memorial held in honor of murdered seven-year-old Fatima

The Crianza Feminista collective held a memorial on Wednesday in honor of Fatima, the girl who was found dead after being missing for several days, in front of the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Footage shows a group of women and children making posters and drawings, putting candles and toys and forming the girl's name with petals and flowers. The body of Fatima Cecilia Aldrighetti Anton appeared with signs of torture in a plastic bag in Tlahuac on Saturday, February 15. Her disappearance was reported on February 11. Authorities reportedly identified Gladis Giovana Cruz Hernandez and Mario Alberto Reyes Najera as suspects in the abduction of the girl. The case has generated great outrage in Mexico, which has been rocked by several protests against gender violence. An average of 10 women are killed each day in Mexico, which recorded 3,825 murders during 2019.
