Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asserted that the administration of US President Donald Trump is «not in a position under the nuclear deal to certify Iran's compliance with its commitments to the deal,» in Tehran, Saturday. Zarif made the remarks during a live interview with Iranian state TV in response to Trump, who reneged unilaterally on the 2015 international nuclear agreement on Friday. «Any time that the Islamic Republic feels that the actions of the other parties are not enough in lifting sanctions and the deal does not preserve the interests of Iran, it can consider its own options — one of which is to pull out of the nuclear deal,» Zarif said. Zarif further noted that, if Iran quits the nuclear deal, «we will be in a situation where we can certainly pursue our peaceful nuclear programme, better and more advanced than when we entered the nuclear negotiations.»
