A group of protesters representing trade unions of restaurant and hotel workers rallied outside the Labour Ministry office in Athens on Friday. Protesters were seen banging on the ministry's doors and chanting slogans. Some of the protesters stormed Hotel Owners Union's building, where the press conference was being held. The demonstrators were demanding to speak to Giannis Vroutsis, the Greek Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, about a lack of financial support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this month, the government announced that hotels would open again to welcome tourists once the lockdown measures are fully lifted. Protesters, however, expressed concerns that not all hotels would open again and were worried they would remain unemployed throughout the summer season.
