Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, met with German Defence Minister, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer in Hamburg on Friday. Kramp-Karrenbauer stressed: «We want both sides of the transatlantic relationship to be highlighted. From our side, that's very important especially in times when German politics is critically at odds with the United States.» She added that: «The transatlantic relationship is very important not just for us, but also for the NATO.» Commenting on the strength of the «transatlantic bond,» Stoltenberg, in turn, added: «The United States is not leaving Europe — actually, the United States is increasing its presence in Europe with more troops, more forces, more exercises. And European allies are stepping up, increasing readiness of their forces, and investing more in their shared security.»
