Police fired tear gas to disperse anti-government protesters in Ecuador's capital Quito on Friday. Protesters were seen throwing rocks at a police vehicle and set pieces of wood on fire. Demonstrations were angered by the deaths of at least five activists in rallies against economic reforms of President Lenin Moreno. According to reports, hundreds of people were wounded and more than 700 arrested since the protests began a week and a half ago. The rallies against proposed austerity measures and fuel subsidies cuts forced Moreno to move the government from the capital to the city of Guayaquil.
