Thousands of members of Ecuador's indigenous population joined protesters on the streets of Quito on Friday to voice their disapproval of the economic reforms announced by President Lenin Moreno, including his unpopular decision to remove fuel subsidies. Waving Ecuadorian flags and chanting, protesters marched for the tenth day in a row, with many with their faces covered for protection against the tear gas deployed by the police. According to reports, at least five people have been killed, with hundreds more wounded, and more than 700 arrested since the protests began a week and a half ago. The rallies against proposed austerity measures and fuel subsidies cuts forced Moreno to move the government from the capital to the city of Guayaquil.
