Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he would keep exploring trade deal options with the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang after the two sides failed to ink a free trade deal during a trip to Beijing on Monday. Speaking at a press conference in the Chinese capital following the conclusion of bilateral talks held at the Great Hall of the People, Li Keqiang said: «China and Canada should strengthen bilateral trade. We need to push liberalization of trade and investment facilitation between China and Canada.” Since Trudeau’s last visit to China last year, the two countries have spent a long period in exploratory talks on strengthening trade, with Canada pushing for provisions on issues like environment, labour and gender issues.
