A fire ripped through Cameroon’s main parliament building in the capital Yaounde on Thursday evening. The fire caused extensive damage on four floors but firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it reached the main parliamentary chamber. The fire broke out at around 9 pm local time and it took almost six hours for the firefighters to put it out. No casualties have been reported so far. On Friday morning Cameroon's Prime Minister Philemon Yunji Yang arrived at the scene and received an update on the full extent of the damage.
