Health workers staged a protest outside the Campo Limpo Hospital in Sao Paulo on Monday, to decry what they call a lack of protective equipment and «proper conditions for work,» as they battle the coronavirus outbreak. «We have 194 workers that have been sent away. Which means our equipment of protection is not adequate. We want respect. We want the proper conditions for work. We want to be able to attend the population with quality and protection for the medic staff and the people,» said nurse Lourdes at the protest explaining that health workers are being exposed to dangerous conditions and casualties are already taking place amongst the hospital staff. The protesters can be seen gathering at the entrance of the Campo Limpo Hospital holding crosses and flowers to honour their colleagues who have lost their lives at the workspace, blaming the working conditions they have been exposed to and the inappropriate protective equipment they have been provided by health authorities. Supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro have been rallying across the country during the weekend to protest against the social isolation measures as Brazil reported 66,501 cases of coronavirus, with over 4,500 related deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
