Supporters of Brazil's President, Jair Bolsonaro took to the streets of Sao Paulo on Saturday, forming a motorcade in protest against the current anti-coronavirus safety measures put in place by Sao Paulo's Governor, Joao Doria. «Lots of businesses are failing, lots of stores are closing and will not be able to reopen. People can't stand staying at home, not everyone has the resources to stay at home. That's why we want to defeat this governor, and we will,» said Alexandre, one of the protesters. Footage shows the motorcade making its way through the streets demanding Doria's impeachment and for the lockdown to be eased up to restart the economy. On Sunday, 19 April Bolsonaro participated in an anti-COVID-19 restrictions protest in Brasilia. On Friday, 17 April, the Brazilian president fired Health Minister, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, who had repeatedly publicly disagreed with the president over the country's COVID-19 response. Brazil has 58,616 cases of coronavirus, with over 4,000 related deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
