A mural with the text Vidas Pretas Importam (Black Lives Matter) was painted on the night of Friday into Saturday, on Avenida Paulista, in Sao Paulo. Drone footage filmed on Saturday shows the enormous letters on the road, which occupy three of four lanes in one direction of the road. According to reports, the work was done by about 30 artists who had the collaboration of the Traffic Engineering Company (CET), which closed the street in front of the Sao Paulo Art Museum (Masp) so that they could paint it. The initiative comes after the brutal killing of Joao Alberto Silveira Freitas by security guards of a Carrefour in Porto Alegre. The event has prompted protests across the country, after being inspired by the US Black Lives Matter movement.
