Ali Ishaqi, a member of the Bahraini Parliament said on Saturday that the Kingdom of Bahraini continues to look out for the interests of the Palestinian people, whilst commenting on the recent agreement to normalise relations with Israel earlier in the week. «The position of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the Palestinian issue and the rights of the Palestinian people is constant, and His Majesty the King is the first and greatest supporter of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause in all forums. Our trust as citizens in our guardian [the king] is absolute, and the decision [deal with Israel] does not mean the termination of the relationship with occupied Palestine,» said Ali Ishaqi, adding the citizens of Bahrain fully support the king's decisions. Ahdeya Ahmed, head of the journalist association of Bahrain, said that dialogue had to be initiated to attempt to resolve the issue, saying «we can not stand where we were 70 years ago, the world has changed and there are alternative steps that can be taken to bring peace to the region.» US President Donald Trump announced a peace deal between Israel and Bahrain in Washington DC on Friday. The agreement is expected to be signed at the Oval Office next week along with a similar UAE-Israel deal.
