Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Ukrainian President Volodimyr Zelenskiy condemned the alleged poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in Vienna on Tuesday, but remained divided on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project. «We have a common view on the situation with Mr Navalny. We all condemn this attack, like the rest of the world,» said Zelenskiy. «NordStream 2 is for us in Austria an economic project, in this respect a positive project and we think that it is a good thing if we have more diversity here if we can use different routes to generate energy or to transport the energy to Europe,» Kurz explained. «I know it's complicated, but it would be good if you (Austria) could see this problem also from our perspective,» stressed the Ukrainian president. Pressure has been building on Germany to use the potential cancellation of the nearly completed Nord Stream 2 project to put pressure on the Russian government over the alleged poisoning of Navalny.
