People flooded Plaza de Mayo square in Buenos Aires on Thursday calling for justice after the discovery of a body believed to be that of a missing activist who vanished during a police operation. Santiago Maldonado, 27, was found in Chubut River in southern Argentina close to where he went missing on August 1.His disappearance was highly politicised and sparked a national outcry. Demonstrators, including left-wing activists, marched holding portraits of Maldonado, playing drums and carrying banners. Several founding members of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo organisation addressed the protesters, calling for and end to such «grave crimes» and fighting for its victims. Major political parties suspended their campaigning for Sunday's congressional elections.
